Selective Azide Ligand Substitution for Methylate Ligands in the (Bu4N)2[{Mo6I8}(CN)4(OMe)2] Complex

New cluster complex (Bu4N)2[{Mo6I8}(CN)4(N3)2]·2H2O is obtained by the reaction of (Bu4N)2[{Mo6I8}(CN)4(OMe)2] with NaN3 in a water-ethanol solution and subsequent crystallization. The structure of this compound is determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The stability of the complex in an aqueous solution and its luminescent properties are studied.
