High-resolution time-of-flight electron spectroscopy has been used to measure the low-energy (0.2 - 5 eV) total electron scattering cross section for NO. A large number of strong features due to intermediate, vibrationally excited resonance states of are observed to dominate the total cross section for energies below 2 eV. These are analysed to reveal spectroscopic constants for the low-lying and levels of and an electron affinity for NO of is deduced, in reasonable agreement with previous measurements.
