A model designed to describe selective flaming is able to estimate the dispersion of the heat with a coefficient of determination between 88 and 99%. The model consists of parameters for the maximum temperature, the dispersion of the heat by length, width and height, the distance from the start of sampling to the maximum temperature, and the temperature of the surroundings. It is used to evaluate two different burners and investigate the potential of using the non-fossil fuel hydrogen for selective flaming. The hydrogen burner delivered a more consistent flame than the propane burner. From an agronomic point of view this can be an advantage since it makes the dispersion of the heat more controllable and thus opens the possibility of getting closer to the crop plants without damaging them.
