Key result
Durable polymer everolimus-eluting stents show a low 1.6% 12-month target lesion failure rate in CAD.
Why the study?
The long-term clinical outcomes of durable polymer everolimus-eluting stents in real-world patients with coronary artery disease were not well established in a multicenter Korean population.

Yes
In a real-world Korean registry, treatment with durable polymer everolimus-eluting stents demonstrated low rates of target lesion failure at 12 and 36 months.
Background: Coronary artery disease remains a major global healthcare burden. The durable polymer everolimus-eluting stent (DP-EES) has demonstrated superior efficacy and safety compared to earlier-generation drug-eluting stents and bare-metal stents. This study aimed to assess the long-term clinical outcomes of DP-EES in a real-world, multicenter Korean registry. Methods: This open-label, prospective registry enrolled 1,996 patients between August 2018 and November 2020.The primary endpoint was 12-month target lesion failure (TLF), defined as a composite of cardiac death, non-fatal myocardial infarction (MI), and target lesion revascularization.Clinical events were tracked for up to 36 months after the index procedure. Results: The mean age of patients was 64.6 ± 11.2 years, and 75.3% were male.Approximately three-fourths of patients presented with acute coronary syndrome. The 12-month TLF rate was 1.6% (95% confidence interval, 1.1-2.2%),and the 36-month TLF rate was 4.5%.Cardiac death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, and stent thrombosis occurred in 1.6%, 0.9%, and 0.5% of patients, respectively.

Kim et al. (2025) conducted a cohort in Coronary artery disease (n=1,996). Durable polymer everolimus-eluting stent (Xience Alpine/Sierra) was evaluated on 12-month target lesion failure (TLF), defined as a composite of cardiac death, non-fatal myocardial infarction (MI), and target lesion revascularization (95% CI 1.1-2.2). In a real-world registry of patients with coronary artery disease, the durable polymer everolimus-eluting stent demonstrated a 12-month target lesion failure rate of 1.6% (95% CI 1.1-2.2%).
