Port-Access ASD closure reduces postoperative pain but demands complex intraoperative monitoring, with TEE proving indispensable.
Why the study?
Port-Access minimally invasive cardiac surgery for atrial septal defect closure requires complex intraoperative management to prevent central nervous system complications despite its minimally invasive nature.
While Port-Access minimally invasive ASD closure offers excellent patient quality of life and early discharge, it requires complex anesthetic management and intensive intraoperative monitoring, especially transesophageal echocardiography.
Intensive monitoring and TEE remain essential for Port-Access ASD closure; leaves open comparative safety versus sternotomy in larger studies.
