SUMMARY Implantation of 36 mg. of a protein anabolic agent, zeranol,a produced significant growth response in feedlot steers, feedlot heifers, suckling beef calves, growing cattle, and veal calves. In feedlot steers and heifers a significant improvement in feed conversion was obtained. Twelve milligrams of zeranol by implant significantly improved growth and feed conversion of suckling and feedlot lambs. Adverse signs that could be attributed to zeranol were not observed.
