Rhodotorula sp. is a well-known pathogen in human medicine, where it has been isolated in various disease conditions, either alone or in association with other organisms (2,3,4,5,7,8,9,10). Rhodotorula mucilaginosa was reported to cause a necrotizing cutaneous disease of chickens in Israel (1). No other case of rhodotorulosis in poultry was reported in the available literature. This paper reports observations of the disease in Uganda.
