The recently growing utilization of insects for quantitative toxicity, nutritional and growth studies requires exact control of all factors which may affect the insect. There is a scarcity of definite information regarding the effects of many environmental factors on the life processes of insects which materially curtails their experimental use. Therefore, aside from the scientific interest involved, it is of considerable practical importance to determine the effects of different environmental factors on insects that lend themselves to experimental work.
