Application of in-situ strain relaxation measurements to study the stress-induced ordering rate in a Ag—30 at% Zn alloy exposed to electron irradiation enables the simultaneous determination of the mobility parameters for the self-interstitials and for the vacancies. The latter defects are found to be the faster-moving species. They have a migration energy of (0.56 ± 0.03) eV. For the self-interstitial motion, an effective activation energy of 0.94 eV is obtained, indicating a slowing effect, the possible origins of which are discussed.
