The "stray dog problem" in New Providence, The Bahamas, has been a recurring social complaint throughout the 20th century. This article looks at some aspects of the problem's background and reports the findings of a resident perception study. The results suggest that it is unlikely that short-term policies will be successful in eradicating free-roaming dogs from the island.
