The crystal structure of Na5SnSb3 (monoclinic, P21/c, a = 1859.4(6), b = 918.1(4), c = 1249.3(5) pm, β = 98.3°, Z = 8) contains SnSb4 tetrahedra which form chains by sharing common vertices. Isolated tetrahedral units SnSb4 8- are present in the crystal structure of K8SnSb4 (cubic, Fd3m, a = 1627.9(3) pm, Z = 8). The compounds are in agreement with the Zintl concept.
