Cs2PuCl6 is trigonal and has the K2GeF6-type of structure. The unit-cell dimensions are: a1 = 7.43 ± 0.01 kX., a3 = 6.03 ± 0.01 kX., giving a calculated density of ρ = 4.10 g.cm−3. Plutonium is bonded to six chlorine atoms at the corners of an octahedron with Pu—Cl = 2.62 A. Caesium is bonded to twelve chlorine atoms with Cs—Cl = 3.71 A.
