Linear-shaped charges (LSCs) are explosive devices designed for the precise cutting of materials using detonation energy. This study investigates optimizing a flexible LSC with varied explosive thickness to better analyze polymeric and composite materials. The experimental validation of the degressive LSC involved the use of high-purity lead (>99.5%) as a liner and NUPC-6 composition of RDX as the filler, extruded using brass rollers. Additional materials included extrusion-grade polyethylene for standoff, polyurethane foam packing, fiberglass composite covers, and multi-material targets constructed from 3.0 mm thick aluminum 6061-T6 and 5.0 mm thick aramid/phenolic fiber.
