Fifty‐five commonly occurring acritarch species of limited stratigraphical range and one long‐ranging species have been utilized to establish a biostratigraphic zonation of the Shineton Shales (L. Ordovician) in the Wrekin district, Shropshire, England. The succession in the Wrekin district has been divided into eight concurrent local range zones (1–8) based on first occurrence and association of selected acritarch taxa. Thirty‐one new species are described.
