The development of a foundation group work course within a four semester MSW integrative methods sequence is discussed: The group work course follows an introductory practice course and precedes a practice course on work with families. The course design, possible assignments, and examples of student work are included. Questions are raised about the impact of time constraints on content. The educational experience is seen as introduction to practice with groups and should intiate continuing learning.
