As part of enhanced funding to support survivors within mainstream health services, one health district in Sydney, Australia piloted the delivery of group work activities for adult-survivors. Alongside the pilot, an iterative and critical review of the literature, analyzed in the context of emergent practice-wisdom, was undertaken to explore what is known about delivering group work to adult survivors in health settings. This praxis‑driven approach highlighted that survivors are interested in groups and can find them beneficial; challenges are to be expected; building trust and safety are crucial to delivering trauma-informed groups; and holding space for survivors requires knowledge, experience, and support. The findings have practice implications and contribute to the evidence base for establishing trauma-informed groups for survivors within existing health services.
