Summary78 patients with RA in various stages and activity were investigated with regard to fibrinolytic activity in the blood. Activity of the disease, expressed as the index of Lansbury, alpha-2-globulin, plasma fibrinogen and duration of disease were set in relation to fibrinolytic activity. Statistically significant correlation was found between fibrinolysis and index, alpha-2-globulin and index, fibrinolysis and fibrinogen, fibrinolysis and alpha-2-globulin, and between the two measures for fibrinolysis, dilute-blood-clot lysis-time and euglobulin lysis-time. These findings prove that fibrinolytic activity follows the activity of RA. An interpretation of the findings is suggested.
