Key result
Post-pacemaker cardiopulmonary symptoms highlight the need for sequential investigation of post-procedural complications.
Why the study?
Permanent pacemaker implantation can rarely lead to complications such as breathlessness, chest pain, and cough, requiring systematic evaluation to determine the cause.
Case Report (n=1)
Discusses the diagnostic approach to a patient presenting with dyspnea and chest pain after permanent pacemaker implantation.
Sequential evaluation warranted for post-pacemaker symptoms; single case leaves open broader applicability and outcomes.
Permanent pacemaker implantation can rarely lead to multiple complications. These patients usually develop breathlessness, chest pain, and cough following the procedure. Proper history, physical examination, and appropriate investigations should be done in a sequential manner to determine the cause. In this case report, we discuss the case of a 73-year-old female who developed these symptoms after pacemaker implantation and approach to such a case.
