The increasing use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) platforms has changed how individuals access and interpret healthcare information online. However, reliance on AI has also increased concerns about the spread of medical misinformation and users’ ability to assess AI credibility. This research investigates how generative AI influences users’ judgment when evaluating health-related advice. This study compares user perceptions of AI-generated and expert-provided dental information. Participants evaluated both accurate and inaccurate responses attributed to either a dentist or an AI source, with measures including perceived accuracy, trust, likelihood of following advice, and confidence in decision-making. Results revealed that participants generally viewed AI as a useful source of medical information, but trust remained dependent on the source and accuracy of information. Users expressed greater confidence in expert-labeled responses but demonstrated increased trust in AI when the information given was perceived as accurate.
