Thumb carpometacarpal (CMC-I) arthritis is a common challenge in hand surgery. Trapeziectomy has long been the gold standard,1 while CMC-I prostheses have gained interest as potential alternatives. Despite numerous comparative studies, only one prior study has evaluated both techniques in the same patient.2 We present a side-by-side, in vivo comparison in patients who underwent trapeziectomy on one hand and received a prosthesis on the other.
