The synthesis of tetradeuterated 10-methylundecanoic acid, dideuterated tetracos-2-enoic acid, (1-14C)pristanic acid and (1-14C)tetracos-2-enoic acid using the Favorsky rearrangement are described. They will be used for studies of long-chain fatty acid metabolism in patients. The positions of isotope labelling were determined by mass spectrometry.
