The current report describes the case of a man in his early 30s living with Crohn’s disease and presenting with a one-year history of panic disorder. The case study design was quasi-experimental single case, consisting of 14 sessions of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy − of which 11 were the intervention phase. The effectiveness of the intervention was measured weekly using the Panic Disorder Severity Scale ( Shear et al., 1997 ) and the Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation ( Barkham et al., 2013 ). Whilst symptoms of panic improved, the change in symptoms of general distress throughout treatment did not reach statistical significance. These outcomes are discussed in the context of complexity including physical ill health and comorbid trauma history.
