Our essay aims to uncover capital’s shifting dynamic across race, especially its subversion of essentializing phenotype as source of racial subjectivization. Following this aim, we perform open transnational-yet-local inter-related critical circuits, discussing intra- and inter-subjectivizations, learning together through geographies of “ ‘selves’ ”. We ask readers to allow us to refer to author “identities” and research writing formulae as identities® and research writing formulae so we might re-size our “ ‘selves’ ” within the blanquitud study collectiveFootnote1. As a collective, we take on a taboo question in critical whiteness studies and, by degrees, other race-based epistemologies, a question that is hardly mentionable and almost unthinkable in present-day CWS and RBEs: Do people of Color identify as White? Overall, as our essay bears out, we drive toward anti-essentializing subjectivizations and better articulated anti-racist and anti-capitalist understandings and alliances.
