The AI Operational Readiness & Governance Toolkit: Orientation & Methodology Map is a companion resource to the AI Operational Readiness & Governance Practitioner Guide: From AI Experimentation to Accountable Operations and the AI Operational Readiness & Governance Toolkit. This resource provides a concise orientation to the methodology and shows how the Toolkit’s eight practitioner assets work together across the AI Operational Readiness lifecycle: Discover → Prioritize → Classify → Design → Govern → Evidence → Prepare → Operate The Orientation & Methodology Map helps practitioners understand: how the eight Toolkit assets connect across the lifecycle; the primary question each asset is designed to answer; the outputs produced at each stage; how operational understanding progresses into design, governance, evidence, pilot readiness, and accountable operation; how the AI Opportunity Executive Briefing synthesizes lifecycle evidence and decisions for leadership; and why the methodology is connected rather than strictly linear, allowing new evidence, changing conditions, or material changes to return an organization to earlier stages. The resource also summarizes key principles underlying the methodology, including starting with work rather than tools, distinguishing access from authority, designing executable rather than merely documented controls, relying on sufficient and trustworthy evidence, testing the operating model rather than only the technology, and preserving accountability as operating conditions change. The Orientation & Methodology Map is intended as a “start here” companion for practitioners using the broader Toolkit. It does not replace the Practitioner Guide or the individual Toolkit assets; instead, it provides a concise view of how those resources fit together as a connected approach to moving from AI experimentation to accountable operations.
