Key result
Surgical resection plus 12-month antituberculous therapy successfully resolves infant left atrial tuberculoma.
Why the study?
Cardiac tuberculosis is rare and usually presents as tuberculous pericarditis, with involvement of other heart parts being unusual and scarcely reported in pediatric literature.
Population
Immunocompetent eleven-month-old infant with pulmonary miliary tuberculosis and intracardiac left atrial tuberculoma

Consider rare left atrial tuberculoma in infant miliary TB; case extends sparse evidence on cardiac involvement but leaves management open.

Highlights the rare possibility of endocardial involvement (intracardiac left atrial tuberculoma) in disseminated tuberculosis in infants.
Cantinotti et al. (2011) conducted a case report in Pulmonary miliary tuberculosis with intracardiac left atrial tuberculoma (n=1). Surgical resection and antituberculous therapy was evaluated on Clinical recovery and resolution of cardiac lesions. An 11-month-old infant with pulmonary miliary tuberculosis and a voluminous left atrial tuberculoma was successfully treated with surgical resection and a 12-month course of antituberculous therapy.
