To address the challenges of electromagnetic modeling of plasma sheaths, in this paper the more efficient dual time stepping - lower-upper symmetric Gauss-Seidel - finite volume time domain (DTS-LU-SGS-FVTD) method is applied to the simulation and analysis of electromagnetic transmission problems for the RAMC‑II model covered by non‑uniformly distributed plasma sheath. We presented an electric dipole radiation example which compared with analytical solutions to validate the correctness and efficiency of the proposed method. We established the grid model in a curvilinear coordinate system, and employed software to accurately simulate the RAMC-II flow field distribution in a real flight environment. And then we constructed the electromagnetic computation grid for the RAMC-II model by Pointwise. Finally, we simulated and analyzed the transmission characteristics of electromagnetic waves in the plasma sheath under various reentry altitudes, reentry velocities, attack angles, incident wave frequencies, and incident wave angles.
