Under the calibration environment of the latest IEC standards, contact discharge waveforms from a 4 kV ESD generator are measured in two cable configurations: the IEC-specified configuration with a single ferrite core attached to the return cable, and a configuration representative of actual equipment testing. These waveforms are compared at 11 different positions of the ferrite core attachment along the entire length of the 2-m cable, revealing that, when the core is mounted on the ESD generator side in both configurations, the contact discharge waveforms closely match and satisfy all requirements of the latest IEC standards.
