This paper presents design and development of a robust decentralized PI controller exploiting an analytical model based approach for multi-variable system. In this work, a two-degree-of-freedom control approach is employed to tackle load disturbance rejection, enhance robustness against parametric uncertainties, and ensure precise set-point tracking. Proposed 2-DoF based disturbance rejection decoupling control guarantees robust stability in the face of a ± 40% variation in process gain and delay, while preserving equivalent performance. The robustness of the proposed controller has been verified by sensitivity analysis employing various perturbation levels range of ± 40% . To exhibit the superiority of the proposed controller, three industry-scaled case studies are considered. The obtained response of the proposed controller has been compared with similar other model-based controllers. From the obtained results it is envisaged that, the proposed controller provides adequate servo and regulatory performance as compared to other earlier reported approaches.
