BACKGROUND Hair loss affects millions worldwide, with substantial implications for individuals' self-esteem and overall quality of life. Traditional treatments including minoxidil, finasteride, and hair transplantation have been used successfully in the treatment of hair loss, with each having its own limitations. Researchers continue to explore novel interventions for hair restoration, with laser therapies gaining more attention in recent years. OBJECTIVE To review published literature on the use of fractional lasers for treatment of androgenetic alopecia. MATERIALS AND METHODS A search of PubMed and Google Scholar was conducted in March 2025. Findings of relevant studies were summarized and synthesized in this review. RESULTS Research has demonstrated the efficacy of fractional laser therapy for hair restoration with minimal side effects reported, although the data are largely drawn from smaller-scale studies. CONCLUSION Fractional laser therapy is emerging as an effective modality for hair restoration; however, larger, randomized investigations are needed for more definitive conclusions.
