This study explores how women journalists in Türkiye perceive and experience gendered assignment patterns, professional inequalities, and structural barriers within media organizations. Drawing on semi-structured qualitative interviews with 20 female journalists working in newspapers, television channels, news agencies, and news websites in Türkiye, it investigates how women make sense of the assignment practices they encounter and what implications these practices carry for their career development and professional recognition. The findings show that participants experience gender-based inequalities in opportunities and career progression as being shaped by structural hierarchies that limit access to politically and economically significant news beats and require greater effort to achieve professional recognition.
