Pasteurella multocida type B:2 causes haemorrhagic septicaemia (HS) in cattle and buffaloes in Asia. The present study reports the whole genome sequence of a Pasteurella multocida isolate, from calf lung. A three- month-old buffalo calf died due to respiratory problem and the causative agent was found as P. multocida on basis of the microscopic, cultural and biochemical tests. PCR based on species-specific primer pair KMT1SP6/KMT1T7 was used to confirm the bacteria. After confirmation, the DNA of the isolate was subjected to whole genome sequencing using the Ion-Torrent sequencing platform following the shotgun sequence protocol. Raw sequence data were assembled using MIRA software (v.3.9.18) following the de novo assembly method and annotated using online tools like RAST and the NCBI Annotation Pipeline (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genome/annotation_prok/). The whole genome shotgun sequence of P. multocida was submitted to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) under the accession number: MDXJ01000000
