Cardiovascular breakthroughs advance across drug, device, and regenerative domains, but access and safety challenges persist.
Why the study?
Cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, necessitating innovative therapeutic strategies across multiple domains.
This review summarizes recent breakthroughs in cardiovascular disease therapies and highlights the future integration of omics, AI, and gene therapy for precision cardiology.
Highlights emerging CVD therapies; leaves open routine adoption pending confirmatory trials.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, prompting an urgent need for innovative therapeutic strategies. This review highlights the major advancements in CVD management, spanning pharmacological, interventional, regenerative, and diagnostic domains. Notable pharmacotherapeutic developments include next-generation antiplatelet agents, direct oral anticoagulants, PCSK9 inhibitors, and angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitors (ARNIs). Interventional innovations such as drug-eluting stents, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), and bioresorbable vascular scaffolds have enhanced procedural outcomes. Meanwhile, regenerative medicine using stem cells and tissue engineering offers promising avenues for myocardial repair. Advances in genomics, microRNA targeting, and RNA-based therapies are reshaping the molecular approach to cardiovascular care. Diagnostic technologies, including molecular imaging and wearable sensors, are improving early detection and patient monitoring. Despite these breakthroughs, challenges persist in terms of accessibility, long-term safety, and global disparities. Looking ahead, the integration of omics, artificial intelligence, and gene therapy is expected to drive the evolution toward precision cardiology. This review underscores the need for continued research and equitable implementation to realize the full potential of these emerging therapies.
