The Russian National Congress of Cardiology 2014The Russian National Congress of Cardiology is a key annual event of the Russian Society of Cardiology and provides specialists from all over Russia and many parts of the world with an opportunity to discuss topical problems of cardiovascular science and clinical practice.Today, the Russian Society of Cardiology is an all-Russia nongovernmental organization with .5000members.The first professional organization of cardiologists was set up in the USSR in 1963.In 2013, the Society celebrated its 50-year Jubilee.Since its establishment, the organization has been renamed many times, but it has always been aimed at fulfilling its mission 'to assist in development of healthcare, science, clinical practice and reducing cardiovascular mortality'.At the moment, 29 sections and 3 working groups are included in the Russian Society of Cardiology.Since 1993, doctors joining the Society automatically become members of the European Society of Cardiology.The Russian Society of Cardiology is developing interdisciplinary approach and aims to cooperate with doctors of related specialties.Among its members, there are internists, cardiac surgeons, endocrinologists, and other specialists interested in cardiovascular diseases.The Russian National Congress of Cardiology has been held annually since 2000.Since 2012, one of the priorities for the Russian cardiac association became its integration into the world cardiovascular community.Since that time the growing international participation, with the leaders of the top world professional associations, European Society of Cardiology and American College of Cardiology, has become a new feature of the national event.This ensures remarkable contribution to its success as well as its scientific and educational value.Today, the Russian National Congress of Cardiology is the key annual event of the most influential professional medical association in the country.The Congress scientific programme discusses the most prominent modern achievements in prevention, diagnostics, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
