The most common geochronometers used to constrain the timing of ore deposition are U-Pb in U-bearing minerals, Re-Os in sulfides, and K-Ar and Ar/Ar in K-bearing minerals. These studies show that available geochronometers provide accurate dates for different mineralization styles. However, in orogenic gold systems, indisputably mineralization-related minerals that can be reliably and precisely dated are rare, and isotopic overprinting or resetting are commonplace. Thus, establishing the timing of ore deposition in orogenic gold systems, particularly in old terranes, has proven... You do not currently have access to this article.
