Non-conducted PACs cause irregular bradycardia via full compensatory pauses on ambulatory monitoring.
Why the study?
Non-conducted premature atrial complexes can mimic other ECG abnormalities and require careful differentiation to guide appropriate management.
Case Report (n=1)
Non-conducted premature atrial complexes can mimic 2:1 AV block by causing profound bradycardia and T wave notching, but can be distinguished by careful ECG analysis and Holter monitoring.
the P wave following the QRS complex occurs slightly prematurely, this can sometimes be confused with non-conducted PACs.This is probably due to acute vagal baroreceptor feedback on the sinus node which delays the P wave following the non-conducted P wave.See Figure 2. In this ECG, the non-conducted P wave occurs too prematurely for this to be a nonconducted sinus P wave.
