A nasopalatine duct cyst (NPDC) is a rare fissural non-odontogenic cyst in the anterior maxilla region near the incisive papilla. The NPDC sometimes appears as an incidental finding in cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).CBCT evaluates it in three-dimensional radiographic imaging planes, namely coronal, axial, and sagittal sections. The NPDC usually remains asymptomatic.Occasionally, patients complain of a sour or salty taste in the oral cavity. The genesis, hypotheses of its origin, radiographic characteristics in CBCT, diagnostics, treatment methods, post-surgical challenges, and clinical importance of NPDC are discussed.
