Key result
Repaired tetralogy of Fallot is linked to ~46% VPC prevalence without high-risk arrhythmias.
Why the study?
The incidence and characteristics of arrhythmias after total correction of tetralogy of Fallot were not well characterized compared to healthy children of the same age.
Observational (n=37)
No
Increased VPCs post-TOF repair appear low-risk in small cohorts; leaves open need for prospective arrhythmia surveillance studies.

Nagashima et al. (1985) conducted an observational in Tetralogy of Fallot (post-total correction) (n=37). Total correction of tetralogy of Fallot vs. Healthy children was evaluated on Incidence of ventricular premature contractions (VPCs). Patients who underwent total correction of tetralogy of Fallot had a higher tendency for ventricular premature contractions (46%) compared to healthy children, though no high-risk arrhythmias (Lown grade ≥4) were observed.
