Key result
Athletic training frequently induces physiological electrocardiographic changes such as sinus bradycardia and first-degree atrioventricular block, which require careful differentiation from pathology.
Why the study?
A modern understanding of electrocardiographic features in athletes and the feasibility of ECG studies in this population needed to be synthesized and expanded.
Answers are grounded in this paper and cite their sources.
The article presents a modern vision of the electrocardiographic features in people involved in sports. The feasibility of ECG study in athletes is discussed. Recommendations for expanding the range of ECG changes related to athletes’ features are provided. Frequently encountered ECG changes in athletes, namely sinus bradycardia and first-degree atrioventricular block, are successively considered. The review presents our own results of ECG studies in athletes in certain sports of different gender and sports qualification.

Мykhаliuk et al. (2019) conducted a review in Electrocardiographic features in athletes. Sports participation vs. Non-athletes was evaluated. Athletic training frequently induces physiological electrocardiographic changes such as sinus bradycardia and first-degree atrioventricular block, which require careful differentiation from pathology.
