Low BP associates with suicide unlike other illnesses; leaves open causality and clinical utility in this Level 5 report.
R F Gillum (1941) conducted an observational in Blood pressure. Low systolic blood pressure vs. High systolic pressure with low diastolic pressure was evaluated on Suicide ratio. Low systolic blood pressure was associated with increased suicide rates, whereas high systolic pressure (143-177) with low diastolic (54-83) yielded the lowest suicide ratio (75% of expected).
