Key result
Higher baseline physical functioning score linked to ~2% lower PAH progression risk.
Why the study?
The role of health-related quality of life and psychological variables in pulmonary arterial hypertension progression remains poorly quantified.

Halimi et al. (2021) conducted a cohort in Pulmonary arterial hypertension (n=55). Baseline Physical Functioning (SF-36 subscale) was evaluated on Progression-free survival (delay to disease progression or death) (HR 0.978, 95% CI 0.962-0.995, p=0.0106). The baseline SF-36 Physical Functioning subscale score was independently associated with improved progression-free survival in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (HR 0.978).
