The paper considers a model study of the transport of the cosmic rays through the Earth’s atmosphere using numerical modeling with Monte Carlo methods implemented in the GEANT4 software development toolkit. A technique for parameterizing the atmosphere geometry, the primary proton source, and ionization rate detectors is described. Work has been carried out to obtain the characteristics of the differential energy spectra of the solar cosmic ray protons during a solar proton event. The data recorded by the GOES satellite was used for this purpose. The results are the altitude profiles of the ionization rate for two-time values of the solar proton event under consideration. A point corresponding to a high-latitude (polar) region with a low value of the geomagnetic cutoff rigidity was selected for the assessment.
