Key result
Significant coronary stenosis is linked to a ~3-fold higher rate of abnormal heart rate recovery.
Why the study?
The clinical significance of abnormal heart rate recovery in coronary artery disease and changes in exercise parameters after coronary stenting have not been fully evaluated.
Observational (n=78)
Abnormal heart rate recovery may flag CAD during treadmill testing; leaves open whether stenting improves it or adds value beyond Duke score.

Lee et al. (2002) conducted an observational in Coronary Artery Disease (n=78). Significant coronary artery stenosis vs. Normal coronary artery was evaluated on Abnormal heart rate recovery (p=0.014). Significant coronary artery stenosis was associated with a higher frequency of abnormal heart rate recovery compared to normal coronary arteries (38.3% vs 12.0%; p=0.014).
