Over the last century, anesthesia has evolved into a highly specialized and safe component of modern medicine. Innovations in pharmacology, patient monitoring, airway management, and safety protocols have significantly reduced perioperative mortality and complications. This review explores historical milestones, current practices, and cutting-edge technologies contributing to improved anesthesia safety. Emphasis is placed on risk mitigation strategies, anesthetic drug advancements, real-time physiological monitoring, and the integration of artificial intelligence and simulation in training. Ongoing challenges and future directions in patient-specific anesthesia care are also discussed.
