The guiding aim of the collection is to shift the focus of European studies from the institutional realities of European integration to the lived experience of it. However, it is not to separate the lived experience of Europe from the institutional and legal account of Europe but to show precisely how institutional and legal Europe is lived by individuals and social groups and, in the living, reflected and reproduced at the social level, generating various forms of injustices and indignities. This introduction presents the main concepts and approaches developed in the following series of essays.
