Vernonanthura almedae (H.Rob.) H.Rob. is an endangered species of the Cerrado domain, with its distribution previously documented only within the boundaries of the Federal District, Central-West Brazil. Herein, we report the first record of V. almedae in the state of São Paulo and extend the documented flowering and fruiting period of the species. We also document raphide shapes previously unreported for Vernonanthura . Our findings emphasise the need to revise herbarium collections and floristic surveys, as fundamental efforts for obtaining a more accurate understanding of species distributions and conservation.
