Key result
Leadless pacemaker implantation through a mechanical tricuspid valve succeeds without procedural complications.
Why the study?
Leadless pacemaker implantation through a mechanical tricuspid valve is possible but requires consideration of valve size and further study to assess its suitability as an alternative option.
Case Report (n=1)
No
May support feasibility in select patients; leaves open safety, durability, and applicability in larger cohorts.
Key Teaching Points•Leadless pacemaker (PM) implantation (Micra; Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN) through the mechanical tricuspid valve (TV) can be done.•The size of the implanted mechanical TV should be considered first. The diameter of the Micra device is 6.7 mm, and the delivery catheter is 23F (about 7.7 mm).•Although our procedure was successful, more studies and discussions are needed to determine whether leadless PM could be a reasonable alternative option for patients with the mechanical TV requiring PM. •Leadless pacemaker (PM) implantation (Micra; Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN) through the mechanical tricuspid valve (TV) can be done.•The size of the implanted mechanical TV should be considered first. Hwang et al. (2022) conducted a case report in Tachycardia-bradycardia syndrome and paroxysmal atrial flutter with a mechanical tricuspid valve (n=1). Leadless pacemaker (Micra) was evaluated on Procedural success and absence of mechanical valve damage. Leadless pacemaker implantation through a mechanical tricuspid valve was successfully performed in a 34-year-old man without any procedural complications or abnormal valve movement.
