This study aims to examine the mixed convective flow and mechanical behavior of a flexible elastic fin attached to the lower wall of a square cavity with an oscillating wall, filled with a water-based ternary hybrid nanofluid. The structural deformation of the fin and its consequences due to the flow of ternary hybrid nanofluid are simulated and discussed. The equations describing nonlinear intricate coupling between the fluid flow, thermal transfer, and fin deformation are numerically solved using the finite element method. Variations in flow patterns, thermal characteristics, and fin deformation with pertinent parameters are analyzed systematically. The graphical results show that the existence of nanoparticles in the base fluid exhibits a significant role in the mechanical behavior of the fin and affects the thermal performance of the entire system. The obtained results are helpful in the design of fins for several engineering uses. The study presents a novel computational analysis of thermal transport due to a flexible fin embedded at the bottom wall of the wavy cavity filled with ternary hybrid nanofluid. The analysis reveals that the elasticity of the fin and the presence of nanoparticles are helpful in thermal transport.
