N atom insertion into cyclic skeletons is a straightforward and powerful method for constructing the functionalized N heterocycles that N atom insertion into cyclic skeletons is a straightforward and powerful method for constructing the functionalized N heterocycles that are essential in both synthetic chemistry and medicinal science. Despite its importance, however, a general and divergent protocol for N insertion into saturated carbocycles remains exclusive. Recently, our group successfully developed an electrochemical method for divergent N insertion into saturated carbocycles, enabling the formation of functionalized quinolines and tetrahydroquinolines with excellent selectivity under mild conditions. This methodology demonstrates the applicability across the drug molecules and bioactive scaffolds, underscoring its potential for efficient pharmaceutical diversification.
