This study analyzed the potential of macaúba (Acrocomia aculeata) for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production in Brazil, considering agricultural mapping, carbon balance, and economic optimization of the supply chain. About 17.6 million hectares of degraded pastures were found suitable for cultivation. The agricultural phase showed net negative emissions of –96.65 tCO2eq/ha, indicating significant climate mitigation potential. To meet the projected demand of 4.1 Mt/year of SAF by 2037, around 5.5 million hectares would be required, with Minas Gerais showing the highest productive potential. Economic viability depends on reducing raw material costs and valorizing co-products, with an estimated minimum selling price of USD 534/t of SAF.
