The Belgian terrestrial isopod fauna currently comprises 38 species, with only two from the family Philosciidae recorded until now. We report the first occurrence of Chaetophiloscia elongata (Dollfus, 1884) in Belgium, discovered in 2025 in a managed but microhabitat-rich garden in Brussels. This finding adds both a new species and genus to the Belgian fauna and represents a northward extension of the species’ known range in continental Europe, further supporting the ongoing expansion of Mediterranean isopods in anthropogenic environments outside their native range. A diagnostic key for Belgian Philosciidae is also provided.
